Dubai Metro launches express trains

The Dubai Roads and Transport Committee (RTA) will launch new express trains on the red metro line starting in October this year to reduce travel time by 10 minutes from the Rashidiya station to the final Jebel Ali.

Two additional trains in each direction will stop at 13 stations and follow non-stop past 14 stations. So, the route will include Al Rashidiya, Emirates, Al Rigga, Union, Khalid bin Al Waleed, Al Karama, Al Jafiliya, Emirates Towers, Noor Islamic Bank, First Gulf Bank, Dubai Internet City, Ibn Battuta and Jebel Ali stations. As a result, the total train time on the way will be reduced by 10 minutes.

The first train will leave at 05:30, the next at 05:40. Regular trains that stop at all stations will start operating at 05:50. It should also be noted that from October at lightly loaded stations, the boarding and disembarking time of passengers will be reduced, which today is 30 seconds. Thanks to the new system, the total train travel time is reduced by 100 seconds. "We will conduct test operation for five months. If the experience is successful, we will implement it on an ongoing basis. This service is designed for workers who will benefit greatly from reduced travel time in the morning," said Ramadan Abdullah, Operations Director of the Railway Agency at RTA. No additional payment for new services will be introduced, the agency explained.
