After a 13-year hiatus, Pakistan’s most legendary rock trio, Junoon, is reuniting for the long-awaited concert in Dubai. Band members Ali Azmat, Salman Ahmad and Brian O'Connell will meet at the Duty Free Tennis Stadium on January 18.
The band, which the New York Times called U2 South Asia, is one of the largest rock bands in the country's musical history. Junoon formed in Lahore in the 1990s and released eight world-famous studio albums, including hits such as “Sayonee,” “Saeein,” “Jazba-e-Junoon” and others.
Despite the breakup in 2005, Junoon remains a significant figure in South Asian rock music, inspiring countless groups and contributing to the region's music genealogy with reverent poetry and patriotic hymns.
