For the first time in 10 years, a flock of killer whales was seen off the coast of the UAE.

Dubai, UAE. Off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, in the area of ​​Lunar Island, for the first time since 2008, a flock of killer whales was spotted. The Emirate businessman was returning from fishing and was able to video 8 killer whales 70 km from the coast.

As scientists noted, three individuals belong to the so-called Pod 11 group: two of them were spotted 11 years ago in the coastal waters of Abu Dhabi, and after 7 years - 3300 km from Sri Lanka. Oceanologists also noted that killer whales that live in the northern Indian Ocean are considered one of the most elusive representatives of marine fauna.

Killer whales are nicknamed "killer whales", being the largest carnivorous dolphins. They eat fish, cephalopods, marine mammals. The killer whale requires up to 150 kg of food per day.

They differ from other dolphins in a contrasting black and white color. There is a white spot above each eye. Male killer whales reach a length of 10 m and have a mass of up to 8 tons, females - up to 8.7 m in length. The dorsal fin in males is high (up to 1.5 m) and almost straight, while in females it is about half lower and bent.
