In the UAE will be adopted the law of "good Samaritan"

The UAE Cabinet is considering a bill to protect rescue volunteers.

Dubai, UAE. The Government of the United Arab Emirates is considering a bill on protection from the legal consequences of rescue volunteers who come to the aid of victims in an emergency. Earlier, the document, called the law of the “Good Samaritan” (or “Samaritan”), was approved by the Ministry of Health of the UAE.

According to experts, the adoption of the law will not only serve as a sign of building the legal system of the 21st century in the UAE, but will also encourage witnesses to help the victims, providing them with immediate assistance without the threat of persecution.

Ultimately, survival will increase and the number of deaths will be reduced. In particular, the intervention of qualified witnesses may be critical in saving lives in a heart attack or drowning.

Now those who provide assistance before the arrival of doctors will be protected by law from prosecution in the event of erroneous actions, however, the provision of such assistance still does not become an obligation and will not qualify as a danger. The law is expected to enter into force in 2019.
