More recently, in the foothills of Kenya, the new ethnic hotel Segera Retreat opened its doors, covering an area of about 200 square kilometers. This is the first and so far only project of the most exclusive safari company Wilderness Safaris in Kenya. The lodge is located on the Lycipia Plateau at an altitude of 1800 meters above sea level a few kilometers north of the equator. Jochen Zeitz, owner of Seger, has contributed to the protection of the flora, fauna and the entire ecosystem of the Lycipia Plateau as a whole. Following the 4C philosophy, developed by the non-profit Zeitz Foundation and implying the protection of nature, community, culture and economic development (Conservation, Community, Culture, Commerce), Seger is the founder of the changes taking place in Kenya. Zeitz Foundation's innovative programs include, for example, conservation projects, rainwater management, the Vivienne Westwood Environmental Education Center, a local school support program, and much more.
Eight luxury villas, as well as the spacious Segera House apartments and the ideally located Villa Segera, are privately serviced, and their electricity and water supply are environmentally friendly - electricity is generated from solar energy and water is produced using environmentally friendly recycling methods. This hotel is the best example of a combination of luxury and environmental protection.
