Over a hundred sites blocked for drug propaganda in the UAE

The Dubai Police Drug Enforcement Department has blocked 118 sites for drug promotion.

Using anti-drug technologies, the anti-drug trafficking authorities have blocked more than one hundred sites promoting drugs.

The head of the department, Colonel Aid Mohammed Thani Khareb, stressed that over the past two years, the so-called electronic police patrols have blocked more than a hundred sites, and since the beginning of this year, authorities have blocked 18 sites.

Thanks to the use of modern methods of control and technological equipment, the number of arrested dealer dealers has doubled over the past year.

Two experts from the Central Department of Material Evidence, Salameh ibn Galayt Al Muheiri and Aisha Ali ibn Tamim, reported that the Dubai police are using three smart projects to search for drugs: the so-called "Artificial Nose", "Spectrometer of substances" and "Smart Laboratory".

At the recently concluded International Forum on Drugs, Mr. Tamim said that "Artificial Nose" is a robot that can recognize drugs by comparing substances with the base of narcotic, psychotropic and explosives. The "Spectrometer of substances" carries out spectral analysis, which allows the identification of substances, this opportunity became available only with the advent of innovative technologies. The idea of a “smart laboratory” is based on the creation of small laboratories connected remotely to a central forensic laboratory. It is noteworthy that in such a laboratory for the most part robots are used, thus, the possible influence of the human factor is excluded.

Colonel Khareb emphasized that some of the criminals deliberately change the composition of narcotic substances in order to facilitate their import into the country.

The officer said that the drug trafficking authorities blocked 18 websites used for drug distribution this year, while 60 and 40 such websites were blocked in 2017 and 2016, respectively.
