Millennials boost demand for mid-range hotels in Dubai

Young travelers in Dubai have raised demand for mid-range hotels.

Dubai, UAE. Young travelers, or millennials, in Dubai have raised demand for mid-range hotels, said Oliver Harnish, head of Emaar Hospitality, at the Indian Ocean Hotel Investors' Summit in Abu Dhabi.

According to him, representatives of generation Y prefer to spend less on accommodation, that is, on luxury five-star resorts, and redistribute spending on restaurants and entertainment. "They say that they only need a room for sleeping. They want a comfortable place to relax, but prefer to spend on food and entertainment. This is a trend that we are seeing," Harnish explained.

He noted that consumer preferences have changed a lot lately: Dubai is no longer perceived as a place on the map where there is only sun and beach. Especially after the Dubai Opera and many amusement parks appeared here.
