Trucks will not be able to enter Abu Dhabi during peak hours

Abu Dhabi authorities forbade trucks to enter the city during rush hours.

Heavy vehicles and trucks are prohibited from entering Abu Dhabi during rush hour, starting in January.

The decision taken by the Abu Dhabi police in cooperation with the Department of Transportation is designed to ensure road safety and reduce the number of accidents.

Heavy vehicles and trucks will be prohibited from entering the city and suburbs from 6:30 to 9:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00, police said on Wednesday.

“Traffic signs were placed on the main roads and suburbs of the city. They demonstrate temporary bans,” said Lt. Col. Mohammed Al Shehi, director of the Abu Dhabi Road Safety Department.

Heavy vehicles will be fined 1,000 dirhams ($ 272) and four black marks for entering the city at the wrong time.

Lieutenant Colonel Al-Shehi said that this step is consistent with the agency’s strategic plans to improve the Abu Dhabi land transportation system, reduce traffic congestion and the number of road traffic accidents, and improve road safety.
