Despite the symmetrical "sports" pipes and eye-sockets of the corner reflectors, the rear part of the back part looks more calm. It is vertically cut, which makes the appearance more restrained, as if emphasizing that we have before us not the dream of an urban street racer, but a solid sedan, which in appearance and characteristics is more like a business car than a car. On the whole, such a look is immediately imprinted in the consciousness and subsequently unmistakably guessed in the stream of machines.

On road

We tested a car with a 2.4 liter gasoline engine. The very first feeling is that at idle the engine is practically inaudible, there is no sound, no vibration, but only some rustle under the hood. Nothing changes at the beginning of movement, at low speeds and with smooth acceleration. However, it is worth pushing the pedal to the floor, as the motor directly explodes with energy, the car, as if pressed to the ground, like a panther before the jump (associations may be different, just our car was black) and picks up speed: quickly and dynamically, without “failures” of automatic transmission . The response of the electronic pedals is very clear. It is worth dumping the gas, as the acceleration stops and the speed stabilizes. The steering is beyond praise, the power steering is rebuilt in this way, this rather big car can be driven with one hand, without fear that you can’t cope due to gravity or vice versa, its excessive lightness. In the first minutes of driving, it becomes clear: the amount of electronics invisible to the eye has increased significantly. The electronic steering system (EPS), pedals, and automatic transmissions work in a single system, evaluating the road conditions (dry surfaces, rain, snow) and selects the optimal response to the driver's actions.

Interior and equipment

The interior is spacious, as expected by a car of this class. The steering column is adjustable in both height and reach. The angle of its possible inclination increased by 10 degrees, which experts did not fail to report in the brochure. Seats with improved lumbar support and vibration absorption are either electrically adjustable or manually adjustable, depending on configuration. And in that, and in another case, their longitudinal stroke is very large, so that even a tall person can comfortably get behind the wheel. Separate climate control for the driver and front passenger will allow you to warm in a warm stream of air if frozen, while a neighbor in the front row can set up a cool breeze. The front panel is made of quality plastic, which is nice to touch. Pads under the tree, apparently, are designed to balance the external "sportiness" of the car. Although, according to the subjective opinion of the author, they artificially make the already austere interior more “adult”. The overall feeling of severity of the cabin is enhanced by the shape of the front panel, which is conceptually solved in the form of large rectangular wells in which the devices are recessed. All this gives it the appearance of a fortress wall, this contrasts with other brands, for example, with a younger brother - Honda Civic - in which the panel is made with an influx and looks more modern and technological. The upholstery is high-quality, however, its gray scale is somewhat confusing and brings up thoughts about tuning the interior in order to add bright colors. The salon is fully equipped with various pockets, nets, holders and more. All covers with retarders, when pressed, they do not clap, dumping the contents into the cabin, but open smoothly and with dignity. The quality of all the small parts is excellent and inspires confidence that large parts that are hidden from view (for example, an engine) are made at a high level and will work like a clock.

Conclusion

A lot has been written and said about the reliability and quality of Japanese cars. Consumers, as they say, vote in money. However, it is precisely behind the wheel of a car such as Honda Accord that you understand that the brand’s philosophy is, first of all, respect for the buyer, expressed in responsibility for quality.

Of course, the Honda Accord is not a representative car, for these purposes it will be acquired rather the Honda Legend. For the middle class (especially, in the Russian understanding of this expression), the car is too expensive; Civic is more popular here. Accord is not a sports car in the literal sense. Paradoxically, he synthesizes in himself various, sometimes seemingly incompatible features - this is the essence of his attractiveness. Of course, moving away from the traditional design of sedans, Honda specialists decided on a risky move. The new Accord may be somewhat puzzling to the brand’s classic style, on the other hand, it will almost certainly attract a wealthy, dynamic audience of “innovators” who are capable of perceiving innovations, are willing to pay, but want to get “everything at once” in return. Whether it’s a brilliant manager who has taken a top position at a young age, or a young family of the upper middle class, as well as a representative of the golden youth, they will all feel comfortable driving this machine. Will Accord VII series become the new best-seller of Honda and whether it will support the image of the best-selling brand in the line of the Japanese auto giant, time will tell.
