Hermitage will accept Manifesta 10

From June 28 to October 31, the State Hermitage Museum (St. Petersburg) will host the 10th anniversary European Manifesta Biennale of Contemporary Art, which is one of the largest and most significant shows in the global art space.
Many European cities competed for the right to host this exhibition. The Hermitage was chosen because of its close intellectual and historical ties with Western and Eastern Europe. The event will analyze the changes in the world over the past quarter century and its transformation in the new reality. It is worth recalling that the State Hermitage Museum itself is actively preparing for its 250th anniversary this year.

“The State Hermitage Museum is pleased to host the 10th Manifesta Biennale for its anniversary year. We will be able to once again demonstrate our commitment to traditions rooted in the era of Catherine the Great and her passion for contemporary art, as well as the role of collectors in the artistic life of Russia. Contemporary art - a natural continuation of the traditional. Therefore, the theme of the modern Hermitage will become a key one for us at Manifesta 10, "said Professor Mikhail Piotrovsky, director of the State Hermitage.

It should be recalled that Manifesta has been held since 1996. Host cities were Rotterdam, Luxembourg, Ljubljana, Frankfurt, San Sebastian, Murcia, Cartagena, Limburg, the Italian provinces of Trentino and South Tyrol.
