Getting ready for hibernation?

So the tourist season of 2013-2014 flew by, the crowds of travelers who traditionally filled the cities of the United Arab Emirates from September to May flocked, and the country slowly approached the holy month of Ramadan for all Muslims.

May and June were tense, as usual - a few new ones were added to the events traditional for this season, which were held for the first time this year. So, for example, in May of this year in Dubai for the first time the eighth Regional Conference of Russian compatriots of Africa and the Middle East was held. Delegates from nearly twenty countries in the region reported on their successes, discussed pressing issues, verified plans for next year, and elected their representative on the World Coordinating Council (WWC). Immediately after that, delegates from ten countries gathered at the First Conference of the Regional Council of Russian Entrepreneurs (RSRP), at which they decided that organizations should be and that Dubai would become the center for the formation and establishment of the new structure.

For the first time this year, our partners from the company DXP Production organized and conducted a series of events under the general name "Russian Fair", which was attended not only by companies from the retail sector, but also pop and creative groups, adding to this the original Russian color - traditional balalaika, harmonica and even with bears.

In the spring-summer season, innovations from our friends and partners from the M-Premier company brought diversity to their traditional poster, adding to the stars of the modern stage, such as, for example, Vera Brezhneva, names from the classic list - Julia Novikova, Maxim Fedotova, Galina Petrova and Eduard Kunz. The full hall gathered a concert "Classical Vienna" ensemble Antonio Sorgo from Austria.

Our editorial staff will inform you about social events from the pages of this issue, and I will take this opportunity to remind you only of what did not fit in the format of the magazine.

For the second year in a row, the Russian Emirates Publishing House has been organizing and conducting a gala concert and a gala dinner in Dubai dedicated to the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. One of the notable events was also the annual country conference of Russian compatriots living in the United Arab Emirates. This year it took place on June 16 and became, perhaps, the best for the whole time. For the first time, representatives of five public organizations of our compatriots working in the UAE left the practice of dry reports on the work done, taking the time to give reports on current topics and discuss really important issues. For the first time in seven years since the very first conference, which was held back in 2008, delegates pushed into the background personal interests and ambitions, focusing on the task of consolidating the Russian-speaking community in order to preserve and strengthen the position of the Russian world. In this regard, it is impossible not to appreciate the role of Alexander Vladimirovich Efimov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Abu Dhabi, as well as Timur Fatekhovich Zabirov, who has been in charge of the movement of compatriots in the UAE for the past few years.

I re-read what I wrote and realized that this “Publisher's Word” is very different from those that were published earlier. Well, let the editorial board scold me. In the life of the “Russian Emirates”, the social and social orientation always played a significant role, and it would be wrong to forget about it. Therefore, in this issue, read about the wonderful author of Russian fairy tales (you won’t guess who it is!), And about the organizers of exhibitions and shows of paintings by Kazakh and Ukrainian artists, and about the wonderful Sabantuy holiday!

And since we chose Ramadan as the theme of the issue, I congratulate all Muslims on this holiday, and I want to show maximum tact and understanding to representatives of other faiths, especially since Ramadan in Dubai is a real holiday for everyone. That is why I put a question mark in the headline - you definitely will not get enough sleep!
