From Dubai with shopping. It is important to know!

Every day, hundreds of tourists from Russia, sunbathing and diving in the warm waters of the Persian Gulf, go for shopping. And many of them immediately have a logical question: how to ship everything bought back home to their homeland ?!

The first advice is to think through transportation issues before making a purchase, rather than remembering it on the day of departure. As practice shows, not every buyer has an idea about the cost of transportation of goods and their customs clearance in Russia. And later they find out that when adding the price of goods and the cost of delivery, the indicators of the profitability of a purchase in a tax-free zone dissolve like a mirage.

Always specify the cost of transportation of bulky cargo until the time of purchase!

If the weight of the purchased goods is small (does not exceed 10-15 kg), you can carry them as standard baggage at no extra charge (or pay extra for the excess, if any).

Russian import rules are simple:

1. Any tourist has the right to free of charge, without fees, no more than once a month to import goods purchased abroad, the total cost of which does not exceed 10,000 euros, and the total weight - 50 kg.

All that exceeds the norm, you need to declare and pay a fee. Keep in mind that at Dubai International Airport there is an additional restriction on the weight of one baggage item - not more than 32 kg in economy class. If your suitcase, or, for example, a plasma TV weighs more, they will not accept it in your luggage. And, of course, they will not allow me to take with me to the cabin.

2. Any customs officer has the right to recognize your holiday purchases as a commercial party, having found more than two copies of the same product from you. Even if you bought only three perfume bottles for three daughters, then you are already replenishing the glorious company of “workers of the commercial front” in the face of the customs legislation of the Russian Federation.

What does this threaten? Goods imported to their historical homeland for commercial purposes must be certified. That is, when importing a “commercial batch”, you will have to temporarily part with it, leaving it in a temporary storage warehouse (TSW) of customs, receive a certificate, and only then pick up your goods, paying for storage services and import duties.

If you do not want to communicate with the customs authorities, do not exceed the allowable limits for duty-free import. If you know that you knowingly exceed them, it is better not to carry the goods yourself, but to contact a specialized company.

DELIVERY METHODS

Today, there are only two ways: aviation (by plane) and sea (by container). They vary in cost and timing. Container shipments are cheaper, but they also go to the recipient from 35 to 60 days. Air transportation is significantly more expensive, but you can get the cargo in a couple of days from the moment the transport board was sent.

The cornerstone of the movement of goods across the border is customs clearance, or the fulfillment of all formalities provided for by customs rules regarding the import and export of goods or baggage.

It includes customs clearance at the border and payment of customs payments. The paradox of Russian reality lies in the existence of two completely different in meaning varieties of this procedure. Both “gray” and “white” customs clearance pursue the same goal - to release imported goods into free circulation on the territory of Russia, but they use completely different means.

"White" customs clearance involves one hundred percent declaration of the goods with a listing of the entire range and with the subsequent issuance of a package of documents necessary for further movement and sale of goods. The "gray" schemes are gradually becoming a thing of the past and look like this: the carrier company receives goods from customers, not interested in its detailed description and carries everything with a "shaft".

Such a business relies on tacit communications and arrangements with civil servants.

You will sleep peacefully only if you choose the "white customs clearance". We repeat that the main requirement of the "white" customs is to provide the senders with full information about the cargo for its declaration.

Accordingly, if the carrier company does not require a detailed description of the goods from you (or from your supplier), then this cannot but alarm.

The low cost of transportation with customs clearance should be considered as cheese in a mousetrap. Always compare the prices of several companies and look at the site where the catalog with duty rates for different types of goods is located. Adequate price in accordance with the laws of the Russian Federation is another indicator of reliability.

If the cargo company has the same price for different types of products, then either you overpay or the company uses the so-called "gray" customs clearance schemes.

The check is very simple: you need to ask which part of the price is the cost of transportation and which part is at customs.

Today, the expression "multimodal transport" has become fashionable. On the one hand, it is sometimes advantageous to send to Beijing via Berlin, on the other hand, responsibility for the cargo may be lost in the complex components of the supply chain.

Do not lose vigilance until you have fully understood the entire delivery scheme.

The responsible carrier must explain what exactly he wants to avoid by choosing a complex scheme, not forgetting to mention the risks that are inevitable in certain sections of the route.

Not the last aspect is insurance. When applying for it, ask who the policyholder is, whether insurance is valid all the way, whether it is valid if the freight carrier changes. We must not forget that insurance is not only sleeping pills for vigilance, but also an excellent income item for the freight carrier, if he didn’t intend to pay you the insured amount in case of loss of freight.

Last tip: don’t take it for granted! The last word is always yours!

Do not succumb to persuasion if you are not sure of anything!
