Time line

The "Service Romance" of fashion and ballet has been going on for centuries. Translucent dresses, leotards, ancient Greek tunics and tunics once descended from the Parisian stage to the streets of the city. It is impossible not to mention the “Russian Seasons” by Sergey Diaghilev, which caused a real sensation in European society at the beginning of the last century, primarily with costumes and decorations. It is starting

From these tours, an official marriage was concluded between fashion and ballet. Paul Poiret immediately began to make collections in the oriental style inherent in Russian ballet productions of those years, and later Coco Chanel created costumes for the troupe. After almost half a century, in 1976, theatrical epic Diaghilev dedicated his collection to Yves Saint Laurent. By the way, ballet shoes, which we are all so accustomed to, got this name for a reason: they were first sewed by Rosa Repetto in 1947 for her son, dancer and choreographer Roland Petit. Brigitte Bordeaux brought world fame to shoes and the Repetto brand in 1956 - in the film "And God created a woman," the beauty appeared in Cendrillon shoes, which have now become classic.

Closer to the body

Today, the low-level outpost of ballet style is the same Repetto. But not only ballet shoes the French House holds its position. He produces everything related to dancing: pointe shoes, tutus, tights and accessories, up to sets of hairpins, for attending studios. There are also children's rulers. Since 2012, Repetto has been presenting seasonally ready-to-wear collections, in which, first of all, it is worth paying attention to multilayer tulle skirts and dresses with such a hem. And the latest collection is no exception.

The rest of the fashion houses, too, from time to time turn to fine dance art. The key collection of the season "Fall-Winter 2016/2017", inspired by ballet, was presented by Valentino. Maria Grazia Curie and Pierpaolo Piccioli, creative directors of the brand at the time of the show (now Maria went to work at Dior), created the images of modern dancers. They thought through everything: from the heroine’s direct presence on stage to her return from rehearsal along the street home. It is such associations that cause the things presented. The masters deserve a flurry of applause for the amazing "wearability" of the collection, because the ballet theme is often perceived by customers as evening or extravagant. Here she is quite office, street, walking. Finishing the show, long nude dresses, generously strewn with glass beads, are a tribute to the primates of the productions of Diaghilev and the New York City Ballet. Valentino Fall / Winter 2016/2017 shoes can rival popularity with the timeless Repetto classic, especially with their powdery heeled sandals. The brand’s advertising campaign, of course, is entirely photo-choreographic. The tutu was also interpreted by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, supplementing them with jackets. But a special chic of the collection is fur tutus, as well as feminine dresses made of the finest fabrics with the most complicated embroidery. With chiffon and layering, Jambattista Valley also played, and in the collection for both Giambattista Valli and Giamba. True, he did it in a different manner: for the first brand, the designer created more feminine things, for the second - models in rock aesthetics.

Shoe corps de ballet

The season of Miu Miu ballet flats has already hit the street style chronicles. The company they make Pump pumps of this brand with the same tape, laced on the leg. This fall and winter, the balance of power, apparently, will not change, because the updated Miu Miu ballet shoes have become even more beautiful: now they are made of velvet and decorated with crystals.

Isabel Marant has its own army of fans - those who love the feminine style to be diluted with tougher biker notes. Therefore, her black models with leather belts and metal perforation also stand out from the crowd. Classical ballet shoes are presented both at the Houses specializing in complete lines (Chloé, Lanvin), and at purely shoe brands (Aquazzura, Gianvito Rossi).

Jewelry

For Van Cleef & Arpels, an unequivocal leadership in the opera and ballet theme was entrenched. Their legendary ballerinas brooches first appeared in the 40s in New York. Each such historical accessory is now a hunt for collectors. George Balanchine's "Jewels" production, inspired by Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry and friendship with Claude Arpel, finally made the graceful dancers one of the symbols of the House. The jewelry troupe is expanding to this day - the brand regularly releases new products with graceful femins. The latest “new one” is the Émeraude Ballerina brooch from the Émeraude en Majesté fine art collection.

Cartier is also inspired by thin dancer camps. This fall, the House introduced the updated Agrafe jewelry collection. It first appeared in 1912 and was inspired by the corsets of actresses and Parisian fashionistas who imitated them - or rather, the clasps of this wardrobe item. Such an important detail, frozen in gold and diamonds, is represented on rings, bracelets and necklaces this season.

The London-based Sybarite brand cannot boast such a long history - it is only three years old. But he can be proud of his products, first presented at the Basel 2016 exhibition. These are the cocktails of the World of Flowers collection with rotating miniatures of ballerinas. “Dance cannot be static,” Margarita Prikhodko, one of the brand’s founders, is convinced. The background to the creation of this collection is “Waltz of the Flowers” from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker. Every movement of your hand is an overture to a graceful pirouette. Long live the ballet!

Style definition

In general, everything related to the ballet style is associated with the outfits of ballerinas, both classical and modern - airiness, layering, pleating, chiffon, tulle. This style is characterized by pastel colors, especially beige and flesh, plus white. But in general today, tones can be any. Ballet style includes skirts, tutus, tops with both open and closed shoulders, dresses, tunics, bodysuits, body, short shorts with high waist. Hairstyle? A bunch, of course! Not necessarily smoothly combed - the trend is slight negligence. Makeup should be minimal.
