Arab Emirates Opens Solar Powered Water Pump Station in Yemen

The United Arab Emirates opened a solar-powered water pump station in Yemen as part of humanitarian aid.

On July 12, 2019, the United Arab Emirates opened a solar-powered water pump station as part of a humanitarian aid project to thousands of northeast Yemen.

This initiative is one of a number of recent programs organized by Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).

UAE assistance focuses on residents of the city of Shabwa, which has become the main battlefield between government forces and Iranian-backed rebels. The city was severely damaged by the civil war in Yemen.

Last week, the ERC also announced the distribution of 10 tons of food aid between families in Shabwa. Since the outbreak of the civil war, the UAE has provided aid worth more than $ 5.5 billion to Yemen
