UAE visa amnesty extended for a month

Authorities in the United Arab Emirates allowed residents to undergo a visa amnesty procedure before the end of the year.

The UAE Government has extended the visa amnesty program for another 30 days. This initiative is timed to the 47th National Day of the United Arab Emirates.

Recall, the initiative was launched in August this year. It was originally supposed that its action would end on November 30. Amnesty can be used by residents of the country with an expired visa or those who entered the country illegally. The initiative allows to settle all issues and legalize the situation.

Saeed Rakan Al-Rashidi, director general of the Department for Naturalization and Accommodation, commented on the extension of the program: “This is a good opportunity for those who were unable to visit the amnesty centers. They now have another chance to take advantage of this generous offer.”

There is no official data on how many people have taken the initiative since August. However, only the Embassy of Ethiopia in the UAE stated that over 25 thousand citizens of the country applied for a six-month visa and received new passports, and 4.5 thousand people received permission to leave and left the UAE. 15 thousand citizens of Bangladesh legalized their position, and 5 thousand were able to leave the country.
