Launches fined en masse in the UAE

In the United Arab Emirates, about 50 laundries were fined for violations of hygiene standards.

Laundry owners in the UAE are strongly advised to follow good hygiene practices. Authorities made such an announcement after dozens of institutions were caught violating these rules.

The municipality of Al Ain, part of the capital city of Abu Dhabi, fined 47 laundries and issued warnings to 114 other institutions.

Al-Ain authorities conducted 234 inspection visits in recent weeks. Most laundries were fined for working in dirty rooms and storing waste near the premises.

Fines of up to 5 thousand dirhams ($ US 1.36 thousand) were imposed on establishments.

Offenders were given a two-week grace period, starting from the date of the warning, to take appropriate action.
