More than 140 thousand servings of food will be distributed to drivers in Abu Dhabi

In Abu Dhabi, in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, police, together with volunteers, were distributing food at the crossroads of the city.

As part of the Abu Dhabi police initiative, dedicated to the holy month of Ramadan, on duty in the capital on a sizzling heat, they distributed drinks and food for passing motorists.

The day before, police, together with volunteers from charitable organizations, distributed 4,750 servings of food and intend to continue doing this during Ramadan. In total, about 142,500 servings will be distributed during Ramadan.

“Abu Dhabi police handed out food to drivers at the crossroads of Abu Dhabi to stimulate volunteer movement among residents,” said Colonel Mahmoud Yussef Al Balushi, head of the Task Division of the Highway Police Department.

Colonel Al Balushi noted that patrols also provide road safety for volunteers from the Al-Ihsan charity, distributing iftar packages to motorists.

“Patrols are also involved in the distribution of food,” the colonel added.

Police said the guards, along with volunteers, were distributing food bags at ten crossroads in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

Colonel Al Balushi said that this initiative not only reflects the spirit of the holy month, but also helps to avoid traffic accidents when drivers rush for an evening meal.

Abu Dhabi police also handed out iftar to public transport passengers in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The head of the criminal investigation department of the Abu Dhabi police, Muhammad Suheil Al Rashidi, said that the initiatives of joint work of public organizations and government structures are consistent with the values ​​of the UAE's founding father Sheikh Zayed Ibn Sultan Al Nahyan.

The officer noted that simple but good deeds are a kind of bridges between different groups of the population.

In addition, police stepped up efforts to raise awareness of road safety on the night of the holy month after the adoption of Iftar and the prayer of Tarawih, informing residents of the emirate of the importance of complying with traffic rules.
