Careem changes taxi fares in UAE

Prices for some fares from the Careem taxi app in the United Arab Emirates have been reduced.

Dubai’s Careem, the manager of the taxi app, has announced a new pricing structure for its Careem Economy service, the base rate.

Starting tariff will now depend on the time of order. The minimum bid will be from 5.4 dirhams ($ US 1.47) to 6.7 dirhams ($ US 1.82), during peak hours it will increase to 10.6 dirhams ($ US 2.8). Now the rate is 8 dirhams ($ US 2.17).

The minimum fare will also decrease from 16.5 to 15 dirhams ($ US 4), as well as the cost of waiting. However, the cost per kilometer will increase from 2.24 to 2.38 dirhams ($ US 0.65).

Tariffs Careem Kids are also waiting for a change. A fixed cost of 17 dirhams will be replaced by a minimum rate of 12.4 to 13.7 dirhams ($ US 3.4 - 3.7). The maximum bid is 17.6 dirhams ($ US 4.8). The minimum trip cost will be reduced to 22 dirhams ($ US 5.9).

The new tariffs entered into force on Monday, May 7. Beta and Business tariff rates remained unchanged.
