Famous Dubai hotel closes for six months

Dubai Jumeirah Beach Hotel ceases to receive guests until the fall.

One of Dubai’s most recognizable hotels, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, closes its doors next month as part of a massive renovation plan.

In a letter to customers, Jumeirah Group reports that the 618-room hotel with beach villas, restaurants and bars will cease to receive guests from May 11, 2018.

However, the Wild Wadi water park, the Talise sports hall and cafe, as well as partly the beach and kids club, will remain open.

The hotel operator announced at the end of last year that the resort is waiting for a major renovation, which will take place from mid-May to early October 2018. The project is part of a two-year renovation program for the entire hotel.

Jumeirah Beach Hotel in the shape of a wave was launched in 1997.

"The hotel will resume operations in early October, by the time it celebrates the 21st anniversary in December 2018, with a renewed appearance and new amenities for guests designed to create an unforgettable experience for many years," the hotel said in a statement.

Upcoming repairs will affect 425 guest rooms, public spaces, the lobby, retail space, beach and street facilities, restaurants. The work, which was completed in 2017, covered 172 rooms and three suites, a kids club and beach restaurants.
