A new road from Sharjah to Khor Fakkan will be opened in the UAE

A new highway with five tunnels will reduce the travel time from the center of Sharjah to the Indian Ocean coast in Khor Fakkan to 45 minutes.

On Saturday, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and ruler of Sharjah, will open five tunnels on the Sharjah-Khor Fakkan highway.

Upon completion of the construction of the road, the Al Sidra Tunnel will open on its section, which will be the longest indoor tunnel in the Middle East, 2.7 km long. The length of the route itself will be 89 kilometers.

According to the official video published by Sharjah Media, the new road will reduce the travel time from Sharjah to Khor Fakkan to 45 minutes.

Currently, the shortest time to Khor Fakkan from Sharjah is 108 minutes (135 km, according to Google Maps), and it takes about two hours to get to Khor Fakkan from Dubai.

Al Sidra is the last of five tunnels on the Sharjah-Khor-Fakkan highway. The tunnel originates from Emirates Road and ends at Khor Fakkan. There are also four other tunnels on the highway: Al-Sakab (1.4 km), Al-Rog (1.3 km), Al-Ghazir (0.9 km) and Al Sahah (0.3 km).
