Two major theme parks in Abu Dhabi link innovative monorail

The Abu Dhabi Ferrari World and Warner Bros theme parks will be connected by an overhead rail.

In 2020, the first phase of the monorail system on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi will be launched, which will connect the two main theme parks - Ferrari World and the new Warner Bros, said Mohammed al-Zaabi, executive director of the chief developer of the island of Miral.

"The first phase of this innovative transport system will connect the Ferrari World Abu Dhabi with Warner Brothers and begin work in 2020," he told Zawya.

“It will take about one minute to get from Ferrari World Abu Dhabi to Warner Bros,” added al-Zaabi.

He stated that this system is the first of its kind.

In 2016, Miral signed an agreement with SkyTran Inc., a California-based company, in the future to introduce its own transportation system on Yas Island.

The monorail will go non-stop and will connect theme parks not only with each other, but also with hotels. Each transport unit will accommodate only four people. The final phase of the project aims to connect the island with the Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Miral Asset Management was created by the Abu Dhabi government in 2011 to develop Yas Island as a major tourist destination. The island has now erected several recreational attractions, including the Yas Waterworld, the Yas Mall and the Yas Marina Circuit Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit.

Muhammad al-Zaabi also confirmed that Warner Brothers World Abu Dhabi, an indoor theme park of 1.65 million square meters. ft. will be open this summer, but did not name the exact launch month.

The fourth park on Yas Island - SeaWorld - is due to open in 2022 and become the first park under this brand outside the United States.
