The royal Persian carpet, valued at 8 million dirhams ($ 2.1 million), became one of the exhibits at the 23rd Carpet and Art Oasis exhibition, which opened on Tuesday, December 26, at the World Trade Center in Dubai. The event runs until January 15th.

The thematic exhibition, organized by Dubai Customs, has more than 200 thousand fine and rare carpets, some of which are even decorated with 24-carat gold.

One of the most expensive carpets presented at the exhibition is a 150-year-old masterpiece, commissioned by one of the Persian dynasties. It is made of the highest quality wool and is one of a kind.

"This is one of the treasures of our collection ... The carpet tells the story of mankind in the language of animals. In it you can see all aspects of human life, such as friendship, greed, jealousy, kindness. Each picture on the carpet tells a story," said Dr. Ganbarinia, vice chairman of the exhibition.

According to Ahmad Mahbub Musabih, director of customs in Dubai, the total cost of carpets at the exhibition this year is 2 billion dirhams ($ 544 million). He added that today carpets are not only valuable collectibles, but also a form of investment.
