The Ministry of Health announced a significant reduction in drug prices - discounts can go up to 24 percent.
On Saturday, the UAE Ministry of Health announced a 24 percent reduction in prices for certain medicines used to treat various diseases and infections.
Thus, the Ministry is fulfilling its obligations to provide the population with high-quality medicines, measures aimed at improving medical services in the UAE.
The following medications were included in the list of drugs for which a 24 percent discount applies: medicines for the treatment of various disorders, including bacterial infections, joint pain, epileptic seizures, heart attacks, prostate and breast cancer, and diabetes.
The ministry said it was working with Sanofi Pharma and local distributors to guarantee the sale of drugs throughout the country. A regular reduction in prices began on July 2, 2011, during this period the Ministry lowered prices for 8732 medicines.
Reducing prices will be especially beneficial for people suffering from chronic diseases or having a terrible diagnosis - cancer, such patients require long-term treatment. Discounts on high-quality medicines along with the provision of affordable pharmaceutical services are the result of a strategic partnership between the government and international pharmaceutical companies operating in the country.
It is worth noting that many global pharmaceutical companies have representative offices in the UAE, each of which currently employs from 100 to 500 employees. Their logistics centers are mainly located at airports and free economic zones.
