Palm Island residents in Dubai warned of heavy rains

Residents of the Palm Island off the coast of Dubai received a warning about the worsening weather and possible rainfall.

Residents of houses and villas located on the coastline of the Palm Jumeirah artificial bulk island in Dubai have been warned of worsening weather this weekend.

From Friday to Monday (December 15 to 18, 2017) showers and thunderstorms are expected, the Palm Jumeirah Residents Association reports.

Residents are advised to keep the windows closed and remove all objects from the balconies, as well as to avoid areas in which lightning can strike.

The National Center for Meteorology has confirmed that weekend weather can be hectic: rains, thunder and strong gusts of wind.

The National Committee for Emergencies and Disaster Management (NCEMA) said it has completed preparations for projected worsening weather conditions.

NCEMA is also joining forces with local ambulance teams to confirm that they are prepared to respond to any emergency caused by heavy rain. He also urged people traveling in the sea or mountains, deserts and other areas to take special care.
