This poem by Agnia Barto was a vivid illustration of the "happy childhood" of Soviet children. We sang, danced, drew, built models of airplanes and ships, raised flowers and raised hamsters. We were busy on extensions, in the palaces of pioneers and houses of culture, courtyard clubs and pioneer camps, while our fathers and mothers were building a "bright future". Now we can talk about this with a share of irony, but you and I got the first skills of social adaptation in all of these sections and circles. And it is not surprising that today we want to develop all visible and invisible talents in our own children. But how to do this if you live and work away from the musical schools familiar from childhood and houses of children and youth? Take the initiative in your own hands!
This is what Victoria Provkina, a professional teacher and choreographer, did in her time, creating the Smile children's dance ensemble. Most likely, the main reason was that children growing up in the Emirates have a clear lack of communication, they suffer from a lack of friends. After all, loving parents and school, no matter how good it may be, will not replace a normal children's "party" with games, secrets and general hobbies. The usual routine is home, school, lessons, TV, computer. But where to put your energy? Where can a child get confirmation that he is worth something? How can you feel the respect and approval of others? All this is so necessary for the harmonious development of the personality of the child.
All children came to the "Smile" at different times, but the "old-timers" in it for three years. The ensemble is divided into two subgroups: the oldest - from 6 to 12 years old and the baby - from 3 to 5 years. True, only the senior group is performing in public so far. Concerts are held at the Ajman Kempinski, Grand and Coral Beach hotels, as well as at the outdoor area of Al Mamzar Park. Performances of "Smiles" Victoria tries to organize once every six months, to maintain the concert form.
The collective repertoire has many short choreographic sketches and dance sketches, movements of which are subsequently used in large concert productions. There are so far six ready-made concert numbers - these are the dances "Barbie", "Cowboy", "Frogs", "Duck Story", "Kukarach" and, of course, "Smile". Kids are happy to perform studies "Caterpillar", "Murlyka" and "Train".
Victoria is sure that choreography develops coordination, flexibility, grace, a sense of rhythm in children, and trains memory. It is very important from an early age to help children learn how to work in a team. In the end, the successful performance of the entire ensemble depends on the efforts of each child. The teacher teaches his students the ability to concentrate at the right time and, overcoming excitement and fear, to speak well in front of a large audience. Many parents note that their children have become more disciplined and self-confident since the start of training at Smile.
The guys are very fond of their teacher. When mother told one of the kids about the cancellation of classes, he burst into tears. However, learning that it was only during the holidays, the baby shone. Children do not have to make dancing, any skipping classes, even due to illness - this is a spoiled mood. Young dancers come to Smile from various educational institutions: Dubai and Sharjah Russian schools, Qeen, Rosary, Choefat, Sharjah English School. They all speak Russian, and one desire unites them - to dance.
Smile is a young but firmly standing team. So far, the number of concerts is limited, because the connections and enthusiasm of parents, multiplied by the talent and energy of the teacher, are not enough to organize a tight schedule of performances. I would like to give children the opportunity to be more in public and to develop stage practice. But the most important thing, nevertheless, is not the lack of concerts. It was not so easy to find a room suitable for classes - with a good floor covering, a spacious hall, machines and mirrors. Thanks to the help of friends, Smile now has an excellent rehearsal room at the Sharjah Women's Club. Kids and their parents also became very friendly with each other, because common interests bring together. Problems such as making up and tailoring costumes for young artists can be solved with ease and together. Smile dancers celebrate birthdays together. At one of the last holidays there were more than 25 guests. In this country, you must admit, there are few who can boast of so many close friends. The saying "do not have 100 rubles, but have 100 friends" we all experience here on ourselves. And "Smile", which aims at aesthetic education of children, somehow suddenly became a pleasant place for meetings and communication of their parents.
Here is another episode from the life of the team. Before the New Year, the next program was ready, the organization of which was worked by both the head of the ensemble and the parents of the dancers. For the dress rehearsal, the parents rented a chalet in Al Mamzar Park and arranged a "concert" in the open. Resting visitors to the park suddenly became spectators. The applause was stormy! The delight of the young artists knew no bounds! The satisfied audience was in no hurry to go home. After the concert, an improvised "banquet" was held there with a Christmas tree and gifts. Random viewers also joined the holiday. And he succeeded!
