Six legends of IWC

The famous Swiss watch house IWC Schaffhausen, in anticipation of the celebration of its 140th anniversary, decided to release a unique vintage collection, which included the six most legendary watches of this manufactory, produced in different periods of its existence from 1868 to 2008.

The collection includes the most famous models: Portuguese (1939), Ingenieur (1955), Pilot's Watch (1936), Da Vinci (1969), Aquatimer (1967) and Portfolino (1984). Each of these watches can be proud of its history, as it symbolizes certain milestones on the path of human development.

All models included in the anniversary collection are not twins of their prototypes. IWC gave them a completely new look, firstly, by placing all the watches in large cases with a diameter of 42.4 mm and equipping some of them with self-winding caliber 98, the most popular IWC ever. Before the new collection, this mechanism was installed only in the pocket watch of the company.

All six models are released in two series. The first (unlimited) is represented by watches in stainless steel cases with black dials, and the second (limited by 500 pieces of each model) - by hours in platinum cases with silver-plated dials. The weight of steel models varies from 77 to 125 g, and their platinum versions weigh from 103 to 193. All watches in the vintage collection are protected by sapphire crystals, have a power reserve of 44 to 46 hours and are offered on black crocodile or rubber straps.

The IWC reported that the first serial numbers of watches from the platinum series are already reserved by customers. Moreover, all the “six legends” are packed in one gift box made of leather and richly decorated. Who will become the owner of such a unique collection is not reported.
