Four people detained in UAE for posting videos on YouTube

Three boys and a girl were arrested in the United Arab Emirates for distributing a video on the network that is contrary to the laws of the country.

In Abu Dhabi, three young men and a girl were detained for seven days for further investigation for publishing video clips on YouTube.

The detainees were charged with misuse of information technologies that violate public order. Allegedly, the videos contained materials that were contrary to the laws of the country.

One of the accused and the girl acted as actors in the video, while the rest of the group participated in the filming.

All defendants in the case admitted to committing a crime. They stated that their goal was to disseminate information among the girls, warning them against meeting people they met on social networks.

They also claim that the account of one of the accused was hacked, after which a small section was edited and published. The young man removed the video from public access, and subsequently, on the advice of the media, deleted it altogether.

However, the prosecution claims that the country's law does not allow such actions. The publication of any content that causes social harm on social networks is punishable.
