The layout of the dome of the Louvre Abu Dhabi was presented to customers

Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnun Al Nahyan, TDIC Chairman of the Board, inspected the layout of the trellised dome of the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum installed on the capital island of Saadiyat, where a new museum complex is being built. Sheikh was accompanied by the architect Jean Nouvel, Pritzker Prize winner working on this project.

The majestic dome, "floating" in the sky above all the buildings and water channels of the district, will become the main design element of the Louvre Abu Dhabi. Its diameter will be about 180 meters. The dome, rugged by amazing lace ornaments, will allow daylight to pass inside the premises and bizarrely refract inside. A six-meter-high model of the dome was used to conduct experiments on the play of light and shadow right at the place of construction of the project before starting work on its final design.

As expected, the museum "Louvre Abu Dhabi" with an area of 24 thousand square meters, will be opened in 2013. Galleries with permanent expositions will occupy six thousand square meters, and two thousand meters will be provided for various kinds of temporary exhibitions. Interesting archaeological finds and artifacts, paintings and art objects from different historical eras, as well as exhibits from the permanent collections of the French Louvre and other museums in France will be exhibited in the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
