Bullet train operator intends to make new Silicon Valley from Dubai

Hyperloop One, a hyper-speed train operator, is gearing up to open its first overseas office in Dubai this September, turning the city into a Middle Eastern Silicon Valley.

Hyperloop One, a US company that builds a high-speed rail system that can transport people between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in 12 minutes, intends to open its first overseas office in Dubai in September this year.

Hyperloop One is one of several companies competing to introduce the world's first functioning so-called bullet train system. It got its name for the theoretical speed of passengers and freight containers moving along a special “pipe” up to 670 mph (1078 km / h).

Last year, Hyperloop One signed an agreement with the Dubai Highway and Transportation Authority (RTA) to create an innovative transportation link between the two main cities of the UAE.

Speaking on the sidelines of a specialized conference in Dubai, Hyperloop One creative director Colin Rhys confirmed that the company has already begun to form a state. In this leadership is focused primarily on the emirates.

The vacancies in the UAE indicated on the company's website describe such positions as civil engineering engineer, senior project manager, system interface / integration manager and security certification manager.

The company has yet to conduct full testing of its system, but it plans to organize the first test run in Nevada over the next 45-60 days, Rhys said. In the UAE, Hyperloop One is working with RTA to test and create the regulatory environment necessary to run a train. According to Rhys, the main interaction is in the search for the safest embodiment of what was conceived.

“RTA is a great partner because it has a clear vision that extends to rules and laws,” he added.

The manual makes it clear that Hyperloop One has big plans for Dubai.

“We would like production and the entire ecosystem to be built here. We want to form the Middle East Silicon Valley here in the UAE, ”Rice said.

He continued: “Dubai is becoming the creator, not the consumer of technology.”
