Emirates Airline, the official airline of the Emirate of Dubai, welcomes the consideration initiated by the Saudi leadership on the possibility of domestic airlines operating domestic flights in the kingdom. The decision to consider such an opportunity, the leadership of Saudi Arabia announced in August this year.
According to Ahmed Khoury, Emirates senior vice president in the Middle East region, this decision by Saudi Arabia is “a step forward that will positively affect the development of the region’s aviation industry and will be appreciated by passengers.”
Emirates, for its part, is still awaiting a more detailed announcement of the terms of this form of cooperation, before taking any action in this direction. As Mr. Khoury said: “Saudi Arabia is a market of great opportunities, which requires further study of the situation. Having no immediate plans to introduce to this market in the case of a positive decision by Saudi Arabia to liberalize its domestic air transportation, Emirates, however, is very configured optimistic about this perspective. "
