Medical robots will appear in all hospitals in Dubai

Medical robots will appear in all hospitals in Dubai next year.

Dubai, UAE. Medical robots will appear in all Dubai hospitals and clinics in 2017, the emirate’s Health Committee said. Pilot studies in the field of telemedicine started in July this year and were successful in hospitals in the areas of Hatta, Al Barsha and Nad al Hamar.

According to the committee, robotic doctors (Robo Docs) are mobile medical devices that can be controlled from anywhere in the world using a smartphone. Thus, if the patient needs the help of a neurologist in Hutt, he can get it from the Rashid Hospital in Dubai.

Telemedicine technology allows a specialist to examine and interrogate a patient, get acquainted with the tests, make a diagnosis and prescribe treatment. This not only saves time, but also significantly reduces the financial costs of patients (almost by half compared with a full-time visit to the doctor). Robots can be used in about 70% of medical cases, including in the field of gastroenterology, cardiology and neurology.
